Basic Info
Name:Orihime Inoue
Bio
Background: Orihime was raised by a drunk father and unfaithful mother until she was three, when her eighteen-year-old brother, Sora, took her away to live on their own. Orihime was, unfortunately, sometimes bullied because she had long hair, but lived otherwise happily with her brother. However, one day her big brother gave her a hairpin, which she refused it because it was too childish. She did not say good-bye to him. That day, he got wounded in a car accident and died in the Kurosaki Clinic. From then on, Orihime used to speak to him often (though he was dead) and tried to appear happy before him. Fortunately, her best friend, karate-lover Tatsuki, protected her from then on, and Orihime continued to wear the hairpin.

Fast-forward a few years later, and she is still attending school with friend Tatsuki and grumpy-faced Ichigo, who she is inclined to have feelings for. A short while after Ichigo took Rukia’s shinigami powers, she found herself in a dire and tragic situation. Though at first she thinks nothing is wrong, Rukia is quick to be suspicious of a wound on her leg (to which Orihime said she got run over by a car) as actually a Hollow injury. Later on, when Orihime and Tatsuki are in her house sharing some queer food or another, the Hollow appears. Even more tragically, however, the Hollow is in the form of her brother. Enter Ichigo! Some Ichigo parts here, including him knocking off part of the mask of the Hollow to reveal her brother’s face. But through the power of love and words, Orihime manages to calm down her brother, and Ichigo gets to fit in some cool quotes here and there. Essentially, she is finally able to tell her brother a proper good-bye, and to show him that she has never forgotten him throughout the years. Ichigo finally stabs the Hollow, sending him to his peaceful resting place. But then the next day, Orihime had apparently forgotten the entire incident, thanks to Rukia’s magical shinigami powers.

However, like how hanging out with cool people makes you cooler, hanging around Ichigo’s sparkling shinigami powers apparently rubs off on people as well. When Ishida released the Hollows as part of ‘hey let’s see who’s better Quincy or Hollow’ thing with Ichigo, Orihime’s powers start up like whoa. She has the power of Shun Shun Rikka, which enables her hairpin to activate the six fairy-like creatures within her hairpin. She does this to protect Tatsuki from the Numb Chandelier. Of course, the hairpin did not come with a handy-dandy instruction manual, but it did come with helpful fairies. Orihime learned how to do Santen Kesshun (the three-point shield), Sotten Kishun (the two-point healing force), and Koten Zanshun (the attack). She voices “I reject” because her powers are, essentially, rejecting (more on that later). Of the six fairy-creatures, one that should be especially mentioned is Tsubaki, who disliked Orihime because she is too gentle and could not use his abilities to the maximum. However, her healing capabilities would soon capture extreme interest.

Continuing onward with the storyline, Rukia is captured by Soul Society because of this weird rapid-paced ‘keel her now’ fury because she essentially gave her powers to Ichigo. Only a few people notice her disappearance, or even remember her, but those who do go along with Ichigo through a portal thing to Soul Society. They land on the outskirts and have to travel to where the huge military base thing is located, or, rather, where the Gotei 13 are and where Rukia is being captured. Because of this force field, they are forced to learn how to form an orb around themselves. Of course, Orihime can do it perfectly, and, of course, Ichigo managed to do this weak waterstain until some advice and then he did it super-powerfully. Orihime was originally worried about Ichigo’s extreme training, not even eating for a while, but it was all good in the end. At least, until they all get split up because the force field was strong and the ball of friendship was more unstable than the force field. Ichigo is unable to reach Orihime in time, and she goes with Ishida throughout the place in search of Rukia. They essentially steal shinigami robes, and Ishida gets to look like a hero, etc. After some exciting battles and meeting new characters, Orihime heals Rukia and then they all return to the human world, sans Rukia.

Oh no! What’s this? Karakura Town is being invaded by arrancar! What can one do? Well, essentially, Orihime tried to fight them. But against the Espada of Yammy, Tsubaki breaks into pieces and she is unable to continue fighting. She could not do anything for the second invasion of the arrancar either (but there were nifty scenes with Hitsuyuga and Matsumoto and others fighting). Ulquoirra, who came with Yammy, notices her and thinks she is something, and then he gives Aizen his eyeball to show him the stuff. (“Merry Christmas, here’s my eye.”) Anyway. Matsumoto and Hitsuyuga live temporarily at her place (though Hitsuyuga only claimed dominance of the roof and refused to come down and share in the strange food Orihime made). Orihime confesses to Matsumoto about all her worries and fears about liking Ichigo but Ichigo and Rukia and Rukia being nice, but then Matsumoto hugs her and reassures her.

Look, there’s Ichigo. There’s Evil!Ichigo. There’s Ichigo battling Evil!Ichigo. The Vizards are in town, baby, and they’re not taking any prisoners. Well, actually, they are—Ichigo. His powers of half-Hollowness and half-shinigaminess interest them, and they offer to train him. He refuses until he realizes that he literally is his worse enemy here. But during this period, Orihime is faintly worried about Ichigo, and goes a-hunting after them. In this abandoned building thing, she sees that the animals instinctively go away from it, and then she goes into it. Which, by itself, might not seem impressive, except there was a super-powerful force field around it, and then Orihime goes like, ‘oh, look door!’ and enters easily, using her super-Orihime powers of hairpinness. Of course, the Vizards are like, what are you doing here?! And of course, she’s like, I brought lunch!

During this time, she meets this huge Vizard called Hachigen Ushōda, and essentially he’s several levels of awesome as well. His powers are similar to hers, and he tells her that she’s quite powerful too—she could still heal Tatsuki even without a shard of him. He heals Tatsuki for her, she’s like yay, he’s like, you fail, and then life continues onwards as she leaves Ichigo, her sidekick, to his training.

Training montage here as she goes to Soul Society, and trains and trains. This is partially because Urahara had told her that she shouldn’t be fighting, which comes into play a little later. However, on her return trip to the human world (sparked by the lure of arrancar), enter Ulquoirra Schiffer. He tells her that he would kill Ichigo and all his little friends too unless she came to Hueco Mundo with him. After seeing her escorts were going to die, she agreed, heals them, and leaves. She is allowed to say good-bye to one person before she leaves, and that is Ichigo. He’s dead-tired asleep snoring, but she just watches over him, and tells him things she didn’t dare to tell him while he was awake. Heals him. Cries. Then, she leaves.

He wakes up healed, and then later on learns that because she said good-bye, that meant that she might be a traitor turning to the bad side. Urahara then lets loose that Orihime could potentially be super-powerful, but he was worried about her. Of course, it was like the “Rukia, by the way, that body you got is actually not your body but this thing that everybody wants” bombshell (to which, she’s like, “what’s the difference?”), but more importantly, Ichigo gathers some of his fellow friends (Chad – “We made a promise!” and Ishida – “We just happen to be going the same way”) and travels to the land of Hueco Mundo, land of the place where everything is apparently Spanish, but it really just looks like a big gigantic cold moon. It also had some affect on their powers, as well, but that’s their sidestory.

She gets to meet Captain Aizen, a scary man who betrayed the Gotei 13 and had two former captains under his command. He shows her the Orb of Distortion, which was essential in creating arrancar, and tells her that she had an interesting power. She, essentially, manipulates time and reality by rejecting things that has already happened. It was then Orihime decides that she would use her powers for good rather than evil, or, to destroy the Orb. Meanwhile, more importantly, Orihime got a new outfit, which was a white dress. She is being baby-sat by Ulquoirra. He makes sure that she is fed (forcefully or not).

However, Ichigo and his gang, at the time, were already deep into Hueco Mundo. Ulquoirra wounds him, and then cruelly tells Orihime about it—then Grimmjow, another espada whose arm was healed by Orihime (it had originally been sliced off, but Orihime just healed it again while she was meeting with Aizen) and takes Orihime to heal Ichigo. In doing so, he injures those who had been evilly taunting her and pulling her hair, but she still heals them. (“She’s a monster.”) (And, right, Ulquoirra at the time had something thrown into his hole and was escaping a cage at this point. But back to Orihime.)

She heals Ichigo, but he doesn’t take her back first, or run away with her, but stays with Grimmjow. His Hollow-like form scares her, but then she’s okay with it, more or less. Despite Grimmjow’s moving backstory, where his companions more or less say eat me, Ichigo wins. Whoo-hoo! Until Nnorita enters the field, captures her again, and then he beats up Ichigo until Kenpachi Zaraki arrives and is like, oh, my bad, I thought there was a challenge here. Basically, fish gets eaten by fish that gets eaten by fish that gets eaten by Kenpachi Zaraki.

Personality:
For her homework assignment, “How do you see yourself in the future?”, Orihime busts out her drawing skills and draws herself as a highly destructive robot with super-cool powers. That, in itself, is Orihime Inoue.

But other than her wackiness, she is also a kind and caring girl. Though she lacks ‘street smarts,’ she is actually one of the smartest people in her class. She is naïve and clueless, but wants to help people. She also can’t cook, and makes strange food items like red bean paste, and butter on sweet potatoes, which she proclaims is delicious. She also knows karate, but doesn’t understand how to work technology.

She is also in love with Ichigo, which she has only told Matsumoto and the sleeping Ichigo. Though she shares a deep friendship with Rukia, who helped her out when Orihime was sad about being useless in the fight against arrancar, she cannot help but share those feelings. She is actually very complex and sensitive, able to sense Ichigo’s spiritual power, even through a barrier. On the day before the day his mother was killed, Ichigo acts a bit too happy and strange, and Orihime quickly picks up on this fact.

Other than her super abilities, she also has an extreme imagination. A daydream about her and Ichigo running together quickly turns into them running side-by-side which turns into them racing which turns into Orihime being the world champ of running, and then she tries to save somebody from being assassinated.

Orihime’s powers, though powerful, can only be used when she has conviction. Worries or doubts would only dilute the effects. But she only uses her powers to protect her loved ones.
